Mindi Strong (she/her), Student Therapist
Science and anatomy books were my Bible when I was growing up. If it was gross, I wanted to look at it. If it needed dissecting, I was the first in line. I spent years doing unnecessary chores because my brother knew that if he called me “Doctor Mindi,” he could get me to do anything.
Today, I still cling to my science books and I jumped in line to get a chance at a cadaver dissection course in college. My passion for science and helping others has only grown as I combined my two great loves in anatomy, the heart and brain, into a clinical mental health counseling career.
With curiosity and creativity, I approach the poetry of life as a student of human behavior. I value inclusivity and love open-minded, genuine communication where all feel valued and heard. I believe in client-led alliances that foster trust and safety using modalities that promote self-expression and self-discovery. I am interested in the bidirectional link between physical and mental health, building integrative mental health care teams, and viewing each interaction through a holistic lens. I am dedicated to guiding women through chronic illness/pain, anxiety, depression, ADHD, and mental health related to postpartum, perimenopause, and menopause transitions using an eclectic approach that incorporates mindfulness techniques, somatic (body-centered) interventions, and person-centered principles.
I am a mom, a cancer survivor, an animal lover, an LGBTQ+ ally, a pluviophile, a Gilmore Girls aficionado, and a creative jack-of-all-trades whose arts & crafts messes can be legendary. I am also a daydreamer who dearly loves to laugh.
I graduated from Utah State University with a Bachelor of Science in Health Education and Promotion with an emphasis in Health Science. I am currently a Counseling Student Intern approaching graduation from Central Michigan University with a Master of Arts in Counseling with a concentration in Clinical Mental Health.
